This is taken from a Statement of Faith I wrote for a Christian Web Site that I administer. It tells exactly what I believe, with Scripture links. It uses “We” because it is more than just me involved, and another person did help me refine some of the details.
We Believe in GodWe believe in the one true God (Isaiah 46:9), the Eternal (Isaiah 26:4), Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1), Almighty (Genesis 35:11), All-knowing (Psalm 139:4), Holy (Psalm 99:5), Righteous (Psalm 7:9), Just (Isaiah 45:21), Merciful (Jonah 4:2), Loving (1 John 4:8), Father of all (Ephesians 4:6).
We Believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:2), the Son of God (Luke 22:70), sent by God (Galatians 4:4) and made known by the Father (Matthew 3:17). We believe that Jesus Christ is the sinless (1 John 3:5) Word of God (John 1:1) made flesh (John 1:14). We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God (John 10:30) and fully man (Philippians 2:7). He is God (Titus 2:13) and is, in all ways, equal with God (John 5:18). All things were made through Him (John 1:3). We believe that He came down from heaven (John 6:38), was conceived by a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) by the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18), and became the Son of Man (Matthew 16:13) who came to save lives (Luke 9:56). We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified (Luke 23:33), suffered (Matthew 27:46), died (Mark 15:37), was buried (John 19:40), and rose from the dead three days later (Acts 10:40). We believe He ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9) and is seated at the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:12), speaking to God on our behalf (Romans 8:34). We believe that Jesus is preparing a place for us (John 14:2) and that He will return in glory (Matthew 16:27) to judge the living and the dead (2 Timothy 4:1).
We Believe in the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17), who rose Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11). We believe that the Holy Spirit is in the world, convicting the world of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8), testifying of Jesus (John 15:26) and glorifying Him (John 16:14). We believe the Holy Spirit lives inside of those who believe in Jesus (Romans 8:9), to be our Helper (John 14:16), helping us in our weakness (Romans 8:26), teaching us all things (John 14:26) and guiding us in truth (John 16:13). We believe that the Holy Spirit gives us power to proclaim the Gospel (Acts 1:8). We believe that there are different spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4), ministries (1 Corinthians 12:5), and activities (1 Corinthians 12:6) dispersed to each believer by the Holy Spirit as He sees appropriate (1 Corinthians 12:11), for the benefit of all believers (1 Corinthians 12:7). We believe we should desire the Spiritual Gifts (1 Corinthians 12:31), and that God will give them to us when we ask (Luke 11:13). We believe that if we are allowing the Holy Spirit to control our lives, it will be evidenced by our actions and attitudes (Galatians 5:22-23). Of all the gifts, ministries, and activities, we believe that the only ones that will endure will be faith, hope and love, of which, the most important is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).
We Believe the Scriptures
We believe that the Scriptures are composed of the 66 books of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. We believe that is the Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13), inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16), useful to teach us His ways (Psalm 119:12) and to help us to obey Him (Psalm 119:9). We don’t take any other word or tradition above the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15), instead we test them, to see if they are from God (1 John 4:1). All other words and traditions must not contradict Scripture (1 John 4:3).
We Believe in God’s Love Demonstrated through Salvation
We believe that all men are sinners (Romans 3:23), unable to live up to God’s righteous standards (Romans 3:10). We believe death came into the world as a direct result of sin (Romans 5:12), and that nothing sinful can enter God’s presence (Revelation 21:27). Despite this, we believe that God doesn’t want anyone to die (2 Peter 3:9), and has, therefore, sent Jesus to die in our place (Romans 5:8). God loves the world so much, that He was willing to give us His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him, might receive Salvation (John 3:16). We know that the penalty for our sins is death, but the gift God has given us is life through Jesus (Romans 6:23). We also believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only way to get to heaven (John 14:7), and that there is no other name that can save us (Acts 4:12). We believe that it is only by God’s grace that we can be saved (Romans 3:24), through our faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8), not by the things that we do (Ephesians 2:9). We believe that we must turn away from those things that we are doing that are wrong (Acts 3:19), confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead; we will be saved (Romans 10:9). We believe that if we admit our sins to God, and ask for forgiveness, then in His infinite love, He will forgive us and make it as if we had never sinned (1 John 1:9). We believe that there will be a final judgment of the living and the dead (Revelation 20:12), those who are not found in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). Those who put their faith and trust in the Lord shall escape the second death (Revelation 20:6), inherit all things (Revelation 21:7), and will reign with God forever (Revelation 22:5).
